DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES

• The Managing Editor ensures efficient editorial workflows and communication within the campus newspaper, supporting the Editor-in-Chief in executive tasks and fostering a positive team environment.

• The Chief Copy Editor ensures grammatical accuracy and factual integrity in all articles, collaborating with section editors to enhance content quality and uphold editorial standards.

• The Marketing Manager at Mars' Hill develops and executes strategies to increase visibility, readership, and engagement both on and off campus. Manages the social media team.

DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee the layout, design, visual production of Mars’ Hill, and ensure that all materials adhere to quality standards, including;

• Designing the cover of each issue, appropriate to the theme.

• Designing the Spotlight/Feature layout, appropriate to theme.

• Designing half of each issue’s sections.

• Assemble and direct a staff of designers, layout assistants, photographers and illustrators to assist with the design and production of the newspaper.

DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES

• Capture high-quality images for events, team photos and visuals that pair well with issue theme and articles.

• Work collaboratively to produce visually engaging content that aligns with the team’s vision and brand identity.

• Serve as the webmaster for Mars’ Hill’s online presence

• Update the website to include the content of each new issue, formatting articles into a web-ready format. 

• Work with the Visual Editor to develop and maintain a website design and feel that is consistent with the Mars’ Hill style and quality standards.

• Serve as technical support for Mars’ Hill, helping to troubleshoot computer issues and resolve technical difficulties. 

• Manage and format web-only content as requested by section editors.

DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES

• Work in a hands-on manner during production weekends to create illustrated content for the paper. 

• Work with Visual Editor and Layout Editor and brainstorm new creative ideas for each issue.

• Come up with designs, as well as be willing to take direction from the other members of the design team. 

• Contact Section Editors to see if they want anything specific for their articles.

• The Opinion Editor oversees the opinion section of Mars' Hill, promoting diverse perspectives while ensuring ethical and well-argued content.

• Manage their section to ensure it is filled with high-quality, student- and alumni-written and section-related material for each issue. 

• Actively seek out, recruit and meet with potential writers, to establish a broad base of writers.

• Brainstorm, plan and assign content for each issue.

• The Humour Editor manages the humour section of Mars' Hill, ensuring entertaining and respectful content that resonates with students while maintaining journalistic integrity.

• Manage their section to ensure it is filled with high-quality, student- and alumni-written and section-related material for each issue. 

• Actively seek out, recruit and meet with potential writers, to establish a broad base of writers.

• Brainstorm, plan and assign content for each issue.

• The Arts & Culture Editor manages engaging content on arts and entertainment for Mars' Hill, leading a team to ensure diverse coverage and foster community engagement.

• Manage their section to ensure it is filled with high-quality, student- and alumni-written and section-related material for each issue. 

• Actively seek out, recruit and meet with potential writers, to establish a broad base of writers.

• Brainstorm, plan and assign content for each issue.

• Brainstorm, plan and assign content for each issue.

• Add graphics, sound, and effects as needed to deliver professional-quality work.
